Influencers?
Hello,
Reading articles like "The influencers" takes me back to the week we spoke about the "Social media" impact on our lives. Social media has changed the world in so many ways, for good and evil. We allow many people to impact other people's life without any reasoning behind it. Regardless of anyone's opinion, the truth is that these kids have a significant reach on society and influence the way many young kids think today about the world. One of the biggest social media influencers today is "Logan Paul," which has over 30 million followers across all his platforms. Considering how advertisement has changed in the past few years, it's challenging to grasp your head around this, to think these influencers would have a more extensive reach than most athletes, artists, celebrities, etc. We are seeing a lot of your "regular American," for lack of better terms being able to make a living off social media.
The strategies that are being used for marketing our products and have more significance are business-to-costumer(B2C) marketing and business-to-people(B2P) marketing. Today when scrolling through social media, you tend to fall into an ad that can have a young influencer such as Logan Paul, Amanda Cerny, Zach king, and Andrew Bachelor; this is not a mistake. These influencers have millions of followers across all social media, allowing them to earn a living from their influence on others.
In an interview with CBS news, Logan Paul, one of the most significant influencers, stated that "When he posted the ad, it was viewed more than seven million times. And Dunkin' Donuts told us this spot had the same reach as a primetime TV ad. For one day's work, Logan Paul was paid almost $200,000." Many influencers dedicate themselves to constantly making posts across social media. It is like a full-time job requiring many errors to succeed in some respects. Apart from having the "IT" factor that many might not have, it is their looks, funny, dance, singing, and most importantly, they can convey the message to a younger generation convincingly.
The "Role" these influencers play in today's industry is astonishing. The influencers have found their niche to ensure they are impacting the way marketing is in the future. The influencers have found a way to collaborate to ensure they reach out to a vast crowd of people across all digital platforms. Previously companies had to work all by themselves while convincing models or actors to accept any deal to ensure that ads would reach all customers. Big corporations cannot compete against these influencers because influencers have authenticity and genuineness while speaking the same language as the new generation.
There is no doubt that the relationship between a company and consumers has to be strong; what better way to impact that relationship than by influencers that tend to relate to the more accessible consumer? Simply allowing their favorite "Social media person" to advertise a product will engage followers in purchasing it because "Logan Paul" uses it. I believe this gives consumers the confidence to buy the product; when they see someone, they "Trust" on social media use a product, they automatically feel more attracted to it. I tend to believe everything comes with its downfall as its upside. To become a high followed influencer, you must consider this "There are pitfalls, lack of privacy, loss of privacy, and that might not be for everyone."
