Adidas is "Green"

 Adidas is "Green"

Adidas is a retail brand that I believe is socially and ethically responsible. The company has taken several steps toward sustainability and has committed to reducing its environmental footprint. Advancing its technology allows the company to use recycled material and take the proper steps to reduce carbon emissions.

Adidas has implemented various initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. One of these initiatives is the use of sustainable materials in its products. The company has created a line of shoes and clothing made from recycled materials such as plastic bottles and ocean waste. Adidas has also committed to using only recycled polyester in all its products by 2024. "By 2024, we'll replace virgin polyester with recycled polyester, wherever possible. By 2025, 9 out of 10 of our articles will contain a sustainable material." (Adidas, February 16, 2023)

In addition to using sustainable materials, Adidas has also taken steps to reduce its carbon emissions. The company has set a carbon-neutral goal by 2050 and has implemented various measures to achieve this goal. Adidas has partnered with Better Cotton Initiative to promote sustainable cotton farming practices. "Adidas has committed to achieving climate neutrality (GHG - greenhouse gases) across its operations by 2025, reducing absolute GHG emissions across its entire value chain by 30% by 2030, measured against a baseline of 2017, thus paving the way for climate neutrality (GHG) by 2050." (Adidas Group, February 16, 23)

Adidas also promotes social responsibility through its marketing campaigns. The company has launched several campaigns promoting diversity, inclusion, and gender equality. For example, Adidas launched a campaign called "She Breaks Barriers," which focuses on breaking down barriers for women in sports. The marketing campaign impacted so many lives, especially little girls that wanted to achieve a higher standard that was blocked previously. The company has also launched campaigns promoting environmental awareness and sustainability.

Although Adidas has made significant strides toward sustainability, it has also faced accusations of unethical and socially irresponsible practices. In 2011, the company was accused of using sweatshop labor in its factories. The allegations led to protests and boycotts of the company. Adidas responded by improving its labor practices, ensuring that all its factories were safe, and providing workers fair wages.

In conclusion, Adidas is a brand committed to sustainability and social responsibility. The company has implemented several initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint and promote social responsibility through its marketing campaigns. While the company has faced accusations of unethical practices, it has taken steps to rectify these issues and improve its labor practices. I think Adidas is "green" for the environment and has made significant strides toward sustainability. The goal of a corporation the size of Adidas is to adapt and provide sustainable products. Corporations make mistakes, and ethics are updated constantly. The company will be sustainable if it keeps improving its processes.
